As businesses increasingly embrace social media technology, there is a sobering realization that they are later to the party that anticipated. With close to 60% of search results in Google being blogs and other Web 2.0 applications, there is an overwhelming need for education and rapid deployment of a succinct social media marketing strategy. Yet the question still remains, how does a business accurately measure and monetize social media (especially web video applications). More importantly, with the inevitable coming of age of Internet TV, what are the best applications start with today and to include in their strategic plan down the road?
The options today are endless (and confusing) and this presentation will help businesses identify the most cost effective social media and web video applications to implement that fit their marketing budget. Easy to use web publishing tools and cost effective value added solutions will be discussed along with examples of how large and small businesses are making web video a pivotal part of their online marketing strategy.

Minding your P's and Q's.

Minding your P's and Q's, in a big R word.
By Karen Kallet
President-elect

The big R word is coming. The word in not recession, nor retirement, it
is Reality. Face it, the Reality is if you do not produce profits P's
for your company, than you will most likely be on the chopping block on
this down turn or layoff. If that is the case then "Q" up and not be
Queasy, since there should be more options than you ever had available
to you than in any other down turn.
The wonderful thing happening is that this will be a different down turn
then has happened in the last 10 years, since most employers have not
figured out is that for the next nine, yes, I said nine.... years
2007-2017, the supply side economy of the past 50 years reverses and
there are not enough people in the generation behind the boomers to take
fill the jobs. Thus when they layoff the qualified employees, they will
not be able to get them back when the economy turns and they need them.
A Perfect Quotient
Do you have the skills soft and hard to get yourself "frequently hired"
in the next 10 years. It has been known that At 40, it is a mid year
crisis, of what have I become, and recently at 25 it is a quarter life
crisis, of what will I become. Think of a time in the next 5 years when
it is - My choice, my time, my decision.
Relook, reinvent and retrain,.... since 75 is the new 65. If you are
now 40, you have been in your career 20 years so far, but remember you
now have another 25 years at least to work. If you are 30, you have been
in your career 8 years; you now have another 45 plus years to work.
Embrace times of change, it takes you closer to your goals.
So here are my thoughts of the day in this alphabet world of: BFF, LOL,
BRB and minding your P's and Q's.of how to ride this tide of change in a
most positive way.
P - Put it in perspective, people hire people they like to work with,
and do not keep people they do not. Perfect likeability.
Q - Question what you want, quit bad work habits, become quite the
catch. Quickly take action.
R- Resist and you will be left behind. Reach for what you want, it is
never handed to you. Be grateful for the people you meet and the things
you have accomplished.
F- Become "Frequently" hired/desired candidate. Hone your skills so you
will always have options.
So there in no better time to get more active in the AMA, join
committees, run for office, get networked and be known commodity in the
market. Changes are coming and you can make the most of them.
